  • Favorite thing to cook
    I love to bake...it sets its own rhythm and can't be rushed. It's very Zen.
  • Favorite cooking show
    "Good Eats" with Alton Brown. I love his approach to cooking.
  • For my last meal on Earth, I'd order
    A big plate of Japanese food: salmon sashimi, tempura, sushi, tonkatsu, udon....mmmm....
  • Favorite restaurants
    Mashiko Sushi in West Seattle, or Chiso in Fremont. Just feed me sushi! It's my favorite food (to eat, that is-every time I try to make it, the rice migrates away from the nori and settles on my forearms).
  • I decided to become a chef
    After graduating music school. I immediately decided I didn't want to be a music educator, because I would only be thinking about food all day...so I did the only logical thing: I became a chef. Who needs summer vacation anyway?
  • If I weren't a chef, I'd be
    Sad. And very hungry.
