Welcome to the Starry Nights Catering & Events' first newsletter!
Starry Nights Grand Opening open house
The April 6 Open House was a resounding success! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to support us. We have been open for a month now, and we have some exciting events planned.
We are hosting a Cuban-themed benefit for Food Lifeline!
Did you know that Washington state has the 9th worst hunger problem in the nation? Join Starry Nights to help fill food banks and feed hungry families in Western Washington. Mark your calendars and put on your dancing shoes- we're teaming with Food Lifeline to present Mambo Away the Hunger on Sunday, May 21 at 7pm. You will feast on Matt's Cuban cuisine and drinks, and a dance instructor will be on hand to teach the Mambo! Tickets are $45, and 20% of each ticket goes directly to Food Lifeline. So call us and sign up for the party, or check our website. This event has limited tickets, so don't delay!

Starry Nights in the press
Starry Nights has been in the press recently. In February, the Issaquah Press featured Matt's volunteer work as a guest teacher of culinary arts at Pine Lake Middle School. Matt teaches healthy eating and simple cooking, and the kids love him (and his cookies). His next teaching stint will be May 18th. Later this month, the Issaquah Press will feature a full story on Matt and Starry Nights. And most exciting of all, Matt will be The Business Report Magazine's cover story for May! Make sure to check the "Press Room" section of our site.
Business partnerships
We have made some exciting partnerships in the last few months. If you order a celebration cake at Maggiano's Restaurant in Bellevue, or Bellevue's Courtyard Marriot, you will be eating a Starry Nights cake! And coming in the fall, we will be offering all the cooking classes for Cascadia Community College in Bothell, onsite at Starry Nights. All of the classes will also be offered through our website, so check the "Calendar" section of our site this summer. Classes will include Autumn Cooking, Cuisines of the World, Cake Decorating, and Dining & Dancing Around the World. This 6-part class is much like the Mambo event- each week we'll feature a different nation's cuisine and national dance! So if you ever wanted to feast on weinerschnitzel and learn the Viennese Waltz, this class is for you!
Chef Matt's Cookin'!
For those of you who can't wait until fall to take one of Matt's cooking classes, he will be teaching at Culinary Communion in Snoqualmie on June 27th, teaching a "Stock Making" class. You can register at www.CulinaryCommunion.com.
He also will be more than happy to schedule private and group classes at Starry Nights if there's a special dish you want to learn to cook. His Greek cooking has been in high demand as he prepares his fourth consecutive Greek catering menu this month!!
So that's all for now. Get your Mambo tickets, spread the word, and we'll see you May 21st!
