Summer Nights at Starry Nights
Do you have a summer party or corporate event planned? A wedding coming up? Let us know! Our schedule is getting booked quickly, so we don't want to miss out hosting your special event!
Cooking classes with Cascadia
Now, many of you have visited Starry Nights Catering & Events and have requested the chance to cook in our enormous kitchen- "the size of an eight-car garage," according to the Issaquah Press. So we have teamed with Cascadia Community College to teach some really exciting cooking classes. We now proudly present our offerings for Fall Quarter 2006:
Cake Decorating Like a Professional
Thursday September 28, 6-8pm
Learn to make that perfect frosting; improve your writing techniques; border piping; proper knife usage; and lots of "insider" decorating tips. Taught by Starry Nights Executive Pastry Chef Dan Mikosz.
Dining and Dancing Around the World
6 Tuesdays, September 19-October 24, 6:30-9pm
This one is going to fill up fast. Each night, we will visit a different country, serving a dinner inspired by its cuisine, followed by learning the regional dance of that nation. Dance lessons are taught by professional ballroom dance instructors, and we prepare the 3-course gourmet dinner. Visit Argentina while learning the tango and dining on flank steak...visit Vienna while learning the Viennese Waltz and dining on wienerschnitzel. Countries will include USA, Cuba, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, and Austria.
Cuisines of the World Demo Series
4 Thursdays, October 5-26, 7-8:30pm
We will present one world cuisine a week in a demo-style class, learning the secrets of Italian, Greek, Thai, and French cuisines. You can sample a menu, and take home recipes to try at home.
Comfort Foods of Autumn (Hands-On)
3 Wednesdays, November 1-15, 6-8pm
Learn how to prepare autumn's hearty and delicious comfort foods, enjoy a full meal of the class's creation, and take home recipes to share with your family. Class subjects include Easy Autumn Meals, Hearty Fall Soups, and just in time for Thanksgiving, Roasting and Braising.
The full class list, with times and prices, can be found on our website at http://www.starrynightscatering.com/classes/calendar.php
Did you miss Starry Nights' Rock Star moment?
On Wednesday, June 7th, the Travel Channel filmed an episode of "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" about Northwest dining. This episode will feature Chef Bourdain visiting Pike Place Market, camping in Portland, and dining at Seattle's secret "underground" restaurant Gypsy, recently named one of Seattle's best restaurants by Seattle Weekly. Now what does this have to do with Starry Nights? Well, our very own Chef Matt Jones was the sous chef for the evening, which featured an 11-course gourmet meal lasting nearly seven hours. Chef Bourdain, the former host of Food Network's "Cook's Tour" and the author of "Kitchen Confidential," was the honored celebrity diner, along with an "Iron Chef America" competitor. Chef Bourdain took the time to speak with Matt, and pose for photos too! The episode will air next season, so be sure to watch to see Matt in his Starry Nights chef coat.
Did you see Starry Nights in the news lately?
Matt was featured as the Eastside Business Report's cover story for May, wrote a catering article for Eastside Business News' June issue, and was on the front page of the Issaquah Press' Food section. You can see all of our press coverage on the Press Room page of Starry Nights' website.
